Scene 1: A Look At Disney Films

One of the reasons that I started this blog was to give myself a reason to explore Disney films more. How is this different from what I normally do? After all, Disney movies are my first love...they were what first got me into film and animation in the first place.

As I was playing Disney Scene It with my family last night and watching clips from various good (and not so good) films, I remembered the summer of my freshman year in high school. That summer (which was almost ten years ago...yikes!), I made a list of every Disney animated film that I could get my hands on and decided to spend the summer watching them. To the best of my recollection, that endeavor was successful, and it was a great way to spend the summer. At this point in my life, things are so much more different. I've got a full time teaching job, which I love, and a part time teaching job, which I love. I'm working on my Master's degree, and doing a variety of other things. To make a long story short(ish), life has gotten way busier. Perhaps that's why I want to take the time to do this. In the midst of a busy schedule, it's important to take time to do things that I love.

There are more than 50 films that are "official" Disney animated films. The plan is to watch as many of these as I can get my hands on. To make this easy(ish) on myself, I have established a couple of rules:

1)Only Walt Disney Feature Animation films have made the list (that means no live action, Pixar or film made by the other studios associated with Disney)
2)In order for this to work, I want to watch every animated film...this includes ones that I'm not as fond of, which should be interesting.
3)Due to my schedule, watch one per weekend. No more, no less.

This Is The Beginning of A Beautiful Friendship

This is a blog that I've been thinking about starting for a long time. I have always loved films; watching them, analyzing them, talking about them, watching them again...and again...and again...

I've created this blog as a space where I can indulge in one of my favorite hobbies, and share my own thoughts on various films. I may tend to stick to posting about classic films, but the point of this blog is to create a space for the enjoyment of film.To start with, I'll be exploring something that I have always known and loved...Disney.

In the words of Rick in Casablanca (my all time favorite film), "Louie...I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship."
